Mobile phone CPU speeds

June 14th, 2008 by Lars Ottesen Henriksen

I haven’t really been following the hardware side of the mobile phone market and yesterday when I was looking for my next phone I stumbled upon a site which had all the specs. And wow, the specs are so much higher than expected…

So, I am planning on buying the HTC Touch Diamond. I was going to buy the Sony-Ericsson G900 but when I stumbled upon the Diamond and that big touch screen, I had no choice but to pick that one in stead. I of course wanted to read more about it and while doing that I stumbled over the specifications of the Diamond. I don’t really know what I expected, but it was nowhere near this.

Specifications for the HTC Diamond Touch

528 MHz!? 192 MB RAM!? Internal storage: 4 GB!? Ok, the last one isn’t so surprising but I had no idea that phones were working in that range, especially regarding CPU speeds… And when thinking back on the specs for my first computer (20 MHz, 640 Kb RAM, 20 MB) we’ve come a long way – longer than I knew anyway…
