SMS spam has finally reached Denmark

September 21st, 2008 by Lars Ottesen Henriksen

..or at least, it has reached my phones. Within the last 4 days I have received an SMS on both my work mobile and my private mobile. Wonder how long they will stay in business…

The text says

NYHED: Vi skal straks bruge folk, til at sende annoncer/info pr. SMS.
Timeløn kr. 300-500. SMS din mailadresse, og vi sender dig et oplæg.
Mvh. callenzo.com

The other SMS was the same, just without the website address. Basically it just says that they need people to send ads/info per SMS with a high hourly wage (3-5 times the minimum wage) so you need to send your mail address and they will send you more information.

The website is under construction, so there’s no information there. But a whois says that a certain this guy is behind this, which makes sense regarding the webaddress. Now, why a guy which such a beautiful last name wants to be involved in this kind of business is a sad thing…

I believe this is illegal in Denmark so he’ll probably be out of business soon. I at least don’t want to receive text messages from companies – perhaps I should write to him and tell him that… Or perhaps send him an SMS :-)

(Just to be clear, I don’t in any way support or suggest that anything should happen to this guy – if you somehow got that impression, you should go see your doctor again…)
