Foldersize

October 23rd, 2008 by Lars Ottesen Henriksen

I’ve often wondered ”What is taking up all my HD space?” – a natural cause of trying out a lot of different software and going crazy with my digital camera. A thing that has annoyed me many times in Windows XP is the lack of a quick overview of the size of each folder in Windows explorer. But there is a small application that takes care of this issue that I always end up installing on my Windows installations: Foldersize.

Foldersize is a small program on SourceForge – I don’t think I know of any other programs where the installer is less than a quarter MB (224 KB). Installation is simple and so is setup. Once installed, right click the “header line” of the Windows explorer (detailed view) and select “Folder size”. A few other options are also added… Very useful!
