How to watch Hulu outside the U.S.

January 17th, 2009 by Lars Ottesen Henriksen

We always get the TV-shows later than in the U.S… But why wait when Hulu.com exists? Well, they blocked the access from outside the U.S… But the solution is near and free: Hotspot Shield – a free simple proxy solution that goes to the U.S. Found via this Lifehacker post. We’ve been using it for a while and it works great, both on Mac and Windows, even for streaming video.

Bonus: YouTube’s “This video is not available in your country” can be circumvented when needed.

Bonus #2: Additional Office clips are available.

Update: I don’t know how legal this is, so use at your own risk… :-)

If you’re having problems outside the US the solution is to buy a simple VPN account. They work on every operating system, so no need to worry about compatibility. I bought mine at with hidemynet at http://www.hidemynet.com for 5$, setup was easy 5minutes at most. Streaming hulu from the philippines with no problem. Even able to watch the HD streams on occasion when my ISP decides they want to do their jobs!
